We took Lucy to one of our local events at Shalford Manor, again she did a really pleasing test scoring 29.8, she was a little tight going into the showjumping but once we started jumped a foot perfect round, I think sometimes her nerves still get to her as she just needs a little reassurance but I feel she is trusting me more and more each outing we go out. She was fantastic across country and felt so much more grown-up from last time and we finished on our dressage score and in fifth place.
We made the long trip to Doncaster to the lovely event at Frickley Park for Lucy's first be a BE100, Frickley is a brilliantly run event with a fantastic cross country. I was thrilled with Lucy in the dressage she stayed really relaxed and did her best test today at scoring a 29, for showjumping was very atmospheric with lots of marquees, stalls and flags surrounding the arena, The nerves nerves got the better of it as we went in but after having a little think and we giving her a part she jumped a really super round just having one fence down jumping up towards all the spooky things, The cross country was big and bold and definitely more than she had ever done before she started off brilliantly and we were going really well when we were held in front for 10 due to another problem on the course, I think this confused for a bit there are also a lot of people walking the course on an organised course walk which was very spooky as we restarted and she became a little green but still jumping well , until for fences from home where they were too narrow logs on a right angle turn i slowed her right down to pop the first but Unfortunately she jumped it enormous and I couldn't make the turn and in hindsight I should have done a circle but my competitive spirit got the better of me and I approach the second element has an angle and I think confused her, she thought about going but change to mind at the last minute but I think I was a bit weak in my position I managed to fall off I found myself sitting on the log looking at her!! I jumped back on and we finished off the course beautifully. So on paper it doesn't not the best day but I was thrilled with how easy and effortless she seem to find it all and I'm already looking forward to next time.
Last week we took Luc
