We had a brilliant day at Prestwold Hall today, we took Flo for the Novice, I have dropped her back a level after losing her confidence after having a couple of runs at intermediate not going according to plan, I felt that she had lost some of her trust in me. We have been practicing hard at home and last Wednesday we made the long journey to Somerford Park in Cheshire, it was well worth it, they have the most amazing facilities including a seven mile farm ride with lots of jumps which Mum on Thomas, Cherise on Chester and Jo Payne on Tiffany had great fun going round, Thomas at 24yrs was on top form and definitely the most unruly of the three. While they did that I went to the 80acre cross country schooling field where they have every jump imaginable, I met John Marsden at Cholmondey Castle who suggested Somerford Park as he is based just a few miles away he came and gave me a lesson. Flo definitely started off a bit sticky but just got better and better and I felt we were really back on form by the end of the session, so a big thank you to John for some really helpful tips, anyway back to Prestwold on Saturday, Flo did her usual accurate and obedient test for a fair score of 34.5, her show jumping was foot perfect and she was back to her best cross country round what was a very tricky course, it wasn't especially big but it was very twisty and technical. I was really pleased with how she felt and to make the day even better we finished 4th.
We had a lovely day eventing at Aston Le Walls which as usual was brilliantly organised. Chester was brilliant today he didn't put a foot wrong from start to finish, he did his usual lovely dressage and scored a good mark of 33 which I was a little dissapointed with the mark which says something about the standard he has set himself, both and the show jumping and the cross country were foot perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed myself, unfortunately I have just advertised him as he is ready to go and make someone a lovely horse, but if for some reason we don't sell I think I will do a 1m event to finish the season and I know Cherise won
Toffee has been sold to a lovely new family, we hope they will have a fantastic time with her. Many thanks to Amanda and Paige Gillot who have been competing her and have done a fantastic job with her
We had a bit of a mixed day at Vale View today doing the Arena Eventing, I took Chester in the 85cm and the 1m classes, he was really good in the 85cm we just had one down in the show jumping section, I have only ridden him a few times and we just had a bit of break down in communication but I am really enjoying riding him and he is trusting and listening to me more every time I ride him, in the 1m he had a couple of early fences down again just think I rode him a little to strongly as after fence 3 he was faultless over a testing cross country section. Flo and Tiffany were both foot perfect in the 1m class jumping double clears and finishing 2nd and 3rd, they both went in the 1.10 as well, Tiff had one down in the show jumping section then we seemed to have a misunderstanding at the first of the cross country section and had that down as well, after that she was brilliant. One of the main reasons I took Flo today is that she seems to have lost a bit of confidence cross country but also got a bit cheeky with it and after jumping a lovely show jump round she was very naughty at a narrow brush and ducked out and then stopped a second time, we had a little discussion and then she went over reluctantly then finished the course beautifully so hopefully she learnt her lesson. So I came home fairly happy as I feel although we did not have the best day it was educational. I have a busy week next week as off teaching at the Quorn Hunt Pony Club camp then Aston Le Walls event with Chester next Sunday.

I have been teaching at junior camp for the Quorn Hunt Pony Club this week, I have had a fantastic time, I really enjoy doing camps as you can really see the improvement from the beginning to the end of the week and this year was not different. I had a fantastic bunch of kids this week all on good ponies, which do normally go together as good riders make good ponies! Everyone tried really hard and really impressed me with how they all listened and did what I asked. There were lots of smiles all round so I think they all enjoyed it as much as me.
