We had a lovely day at our first event of 2016, we went to Offchurch Bury run by Lands eventing, as always it was a brilliantly run event where the organisers are so helpful and happy to do anything to help you. Cherise took Betty this was her first event and first time doing dressage or show jumping on grass, she was a star from start to finish. She did a lovely dressage with a couple of green moments scoring what seemed like a harsh mark of 41 but when we looked at the scoreboard it was a competitive mark, she jumped a for perfect double clear just adding 5.2 time faults, the ground held up well considering the weather they had on the Saturday, all credit to the organisers for continuing to run and doing amazing ground work. They finished a very good 7th so another rosette for Cherises collection! Steve Took Lucy, we knew she may be a little tense so after walking the course with Cherise I gave her a good lunge and time to settle which seemed to work really well, she did a lovely test scoring an impressive 27.5, followed by a lovely double clear just adding 2.4 time faults for going to fast! To finish 4th. Steve did a lovely job riding her, he is so good at reading when it's good to sit quiet and when it's time to ask for more. Already looking forward the next one in a couple of weeks time.
As usual we have been keeping busy at LG, Lulu has settled really well, she was quite tense especially in the school when she first came so we have backed off her and Cherise has been doing a fantastic job hacking her out, she has been in school a couple of times and has chilled out a lot and this week took her on a hack where there is a brook, she was such a good girl, had a look took everything in and then followed Lucy through. We think she will be lovely so well worth taking our time with.
All the the horses have had there teeth done, in the process of having their backs done over next couple of weeks, so hopefully all feeling tip top for the season ahead.
Billy & Eddie enjoyed their hols with us, we now have Reiben with us a four year old Welsh section D who we did the basics with last year and has come back to get started again, he has been a really good boy. He has been for his first couple of hacks and will be with us for another week, before heading home but I will still be going over to teach and help to continue his education.
We we had a lovely day at the Burghley Pony Club Huntertrials, it was a brilliantly run competition. Cherise was a busy girl riding Betty in the 80cm, Flo & Darcy in the 90cm class. Betty was a star, this was her first time on her own and she did a foot perfect round to finish 4th, It was also Darcys first time in her own, she was a really good girl but put in one her enormous jumps over the first part of two jumps on a turn and they just didn't make the turn. Flo was super pleased to be out doing something, every time I looked at the collecting ring she was bouncing round doing flying changes and getting very put out if Cherise dared to tell her off! They flew round both with big smiles and picked up another fourth place.
We we are off to Offchurch bury this weekend for our first event with Cherise & Betty doing the 80cm & Steve & Lucy doing the 90cm. They have all been Xc schooling this week in preparation, Lucy was a bit of a madam to start with but once jumping went really well, hopefully she will put her best foot forward on Sunday. Betty was a star answering every question asked of her, a lot of which she had not seen before. Mum & Darcy and came with us and had a great time.
