We have had a busy and a bit of a mixed weekend. Liberty Bramwell took Toffee to Vale View Junior BS show yesterday, she was a really good girl, she has not been to a show for a while so she just jumped in the British Novice and Discovery, she jumped a super double clear in the BN and was on to win in the Dis but on the last corner her saddle slipped round and Libby went out the side door, it was our fault as we put in the wrong stud guard for her which was a bit big, you just cant get the staff nowadays!! A big thank you to Joanne Bramwell for taking Toffee for us yesterday as I was busy teaching all day, which was great apart from the freezing weather!
We were back at Vale View today for the arena eventing with Shannon and Chester, Shannon was a superstar again, she popped round doing only one of only four double clears out of a class of nearly thirty, she has a fantastic trainable attitude I really enjoy riding her. Chester show jumped brilliantly but was a bit green on the cross country and didn't really get one of the questions but although eliminated he missed that fence out and jumped everything else brilliantly, we have to remember how green and inexperienced he is, he just needs some more practice.
It was lovely to see Fred who we sold in 2011 at Vale View, he looked fantastic and was well placed in both classes, it is great when you see a pony we started off going so well.
We went cross country schooling for the first time in 2013 today, it was great fun. We took Flo, Chester and Shannon and Jo and Tiffany came with us as well and very kindly gave one of the horses a lift. This was Shannnon's first proper cross country practice and she was awesome, I wish I was keeping her as who ever buys her is in for a real treat as she has everything you look for in an event horse. Chester was also a little star popping everything, Flo felt like a real pro and Jo and Tiff flew everything making it all look very easy. Really looking forward to starting eventing I can't believe two weeks today I will be updating my blog after my first event at Oasby!! cant wait
We popped up to Markfield with Shannon and Chester, Shannon had improved so much since last week, she just had one down in the unaffiliated class so took her in the British Novice which Cherise filmed but have had to give her a verbal warning as she managed to miss the first 3 fences!! Chester was a really good boy, he to had improved a lot since last week and just touched one pole.
We took Shannon and Chester to Markfield this morning, although Shannon is eight she has very low mileage and has never done a lot and has not been to a show in over a year, she was very green the first time in the arena so I took her in again HC and she jumped round like a seasoned pro, you can see from the photo what a good jumping technique she has. This was Chesters first proper show as well, he was also very green first time in so went in again and jumped so much better the second time. Both horses learnt a lot and it was great to be able to go in a second time at the same height so that they both went in the second time with real confidence and enjoyed themselves and hopefully they are looking forward to next time like we are looking forward to taking them.
I had a great morning this morning teaching at Aylesford, before I started teaching Cherise and I rode Chester and Shannon, Shannon is a 16.1hh, 8yr old Irish Mare I have got in to sell, if I had the money I would definitely buy her myself, she has had a bit of time off as her normal rider has just had a baby, so hasn't been out for a while and today she was like an old pro and didn't put a foot wrong. Chester again was a little superstar, we will probably try to get these two out showjumping this week. I then had two groups who both did really well, I really enjoy teaching and is made a lot easier with great facilities thanks to Aylesford. Cherise has been playing photographer below are some of the p
We have had a busy week this week, with it being half term for some of the local schools I have been busy teaching both for the Quorn Hunt Pony Club and just general lessons, I really enjoy the teaching side of my job especially when it is in the sunshine!! We took Shannon and Chester to Willoughby Lodge farm to practice in their brilliant arena that has a mixture of show jumps and cross country fences including ditches, steps and water. Both horses were brilliant taking everything on board and answering every question asked of them.
