We have been to Vale View for their arena eventing today with Darcy, Archie and Charlie & Caroline Sheffield's Tex. Tex was first to go, he hasn't been in a ring since the summer and was a little ring rusty and had one down show jumping and then went really well round the Xc section, he was a lot more forward than last time so we were all really pleased with him. Darcy was a little tense and just tightened and had going in the double down and then was fab all the way round the Xc section right to the last fence when I just trusted her a bit to much and she ran out which was a bit cheeky but was so much more rhythmical than last time I took her in the ring. Archie was lovely round the show jumping section and started well round the cross country but couldn't cope with the water so that was as far as we got, he has been through water a few times but always with a friend before, more practice needed at least we have a brook at home. Although not perfect today, all went well and tried hard which gives a good basis to work.

We had a really frustrating day today show jumping with Posh and Flo, I took Flo in the 1.05m as a bit of a confident booster she was a bit quiet warming up but had jumped well so it took me completely by surprise when she stopped at fence one on the perfect stride, came round jumped it and then did the same at fence two, so I went straight back in and rode her really strongly and she jumped round with just one down but felt a bit stuffy, I had entered for the Newcomers so thought would warm her up and see how she felt and withdraw if she still felt the same, I went off to walk the course and left her with Mum and Ila and when I came back Mum said she had had the most enormous wee and when I got back on she felt back to her usual self and jumped fab in the Newcomers just tipping one we got to close to so at least their was a reason for the first class although it doesn't make it any less annoying. So it was all down to Posh to fly the Little Garendon flag in the 1.10m open, she warmed up really well and very calmly then went in to the ring jumped fence one beautifully then I got her all wrong to fence two so I sat still to let her pop a little one in but she just didn't seem to read the fence at all and took it out which being Posh really upset her so I did a circle before coming to the next fence which she really over jumped and didn't make the long distance to the next so for the second time in one day I found my self eliminated, so off we went back to the collecting ring jumped a couple more and then went and jumped a foot perfect double clear. So all in all a very frustrating day I can't remember the last time I got eliminated never mind twice in one day! but on a positive note they both came home happy having jumped the last rounds well.
Mum and Cherise enjoyed a day out hunting with Darcy and Archie, they both enjoyed themselves, Archie was a bit fresh to start with but settled well and we are looking forward to taking them both again in a couple of weeks.
We have been to Vale View today to do dressage with Posh, it was our first dressage show since October and we were doing our first Medium, so the plan was to do Elementary 42 which is quite straight forward to warm up followed by Medium 61 but when I got my times my Medium was first but thought never mind won't do her any harm to have an easy time after the biggest questions she has been asked in the arena, all went according to plan she was a really good girl in the Medium as although there were lots of areas to improve on I felt she tried really hard for me and there were some really nice movements and we scored a really pleasing mark of 65% and won the restricted section. She warmed up even better for the next test and I was hopeful for a PB at Elementary level, we'll Posh thought otherwise and went in to the arena and was convinced it was the scariest place ever! And was a madam throughout out the test, but watching the video back there were still some good moments and we still scored a very fair 60%.
As we had lots of time we took Flo for a school as she has been very fresh at the moment and been adding plenty of her own movements to our schooling sessions! So I was very pleasantly surprised as she went really well and seems to feel a lot stronger than last season so hopefully we can improve on our marks when it comes to the event season.
Last week we took Darcy and Archie to Field Farm at Willoughby to use their all weather arena that has a mix of show jumps and cross country fences including steps, water and ditches. Both horses were fab, this was the first outing we had taken Archie on, Cherise rode him really well and he was brilliant very chilled out and just took everything in his stride he is really exciting as seems to have a fantastic attitude combined with being straight, careful and bold. Darcy was a lot more chilled than last time out and as you can see from above she jumps fab! She jumped everything and was really straight and honest.
We went to Solihull Riding Club for their BS show last week with Posh and Flo. Posh jumped really well in the 1.05m to finish 2nd, she jumped well in the 1.15m aswell but just tipped fence 2 and got away from me a little and had another four faults later in course. Flo was very fresh and wasn't really listening and had two down in the 1.10m so I took her in 1.15m and she was again not listening and had a couple of early fences down which worried her a bit and she was a little flustered but finished well. Hopefully she was just a bit over excited to be back out and will go better at Vale view next week as she is jumping awesome at home and she has only been to one show since September.
I am finally fully back up and running, which is great. We took Posh and Flo jumping on Wednesday to Vale View, they were both brilliant. Posh jumped the best she has ever gone, in the 1.05m open it was one round against the clock I didn't push her out of her rythm but did all the tight turns which she was brilliant at and we finished a good 4th, she jumped just as well in the 1.10m open but finished just outside the rosettes, but I was really pleased with her, hopefully she will be as well behaved when we do dressage clinic with Steph Croxford on Saturday, don't think there will be many other horses that have been out show jumping in the week!!! Flo and I were a bit rusty in the 1.05m she was a bit stuffy and I was a bit hooky and we had the second fence down and until about half way round didn't have the best rythum, but in the Newcomers when I had given us both a bit of talking to we were back in tune and with me riding her properly we jumped a foot perfect double clear to finish 4th.
Chester has been sold to a lovely home locally, it is a really lovely home where he will carry on being spoilt!! He is a lovely boy so I am sure they will have lots of fun with him like we have. So after a lovely weekend away for a friends wedding in Prague, on that note a massive thank you to Holly, Kay and Mandy and all the usual Saturday gang did a fab job of looking after all the animals so we could go away with out worrying, Mum and I have been horse shopping as normal we didn't quite fill the brief we were thinking of but hopefully bought a lovely new horse, his name is Archie a 16.1hh 5yr old Irish Bay gelding, we tried him in gail force winds and he was a very good boy even though the indoor school sounded like it might take off!! Will put photos on when he arrives at Little Garendon.
