Yay George has finally jumped his last double clear for the Discovery second round at Arena Uk, he jumped really well in the Newcomers but I let him down just having the last fence down, I just took away to much energy and he just tipped it. Flo was on top form again coming 2nd in a very competitive Newcomers out of 50 competitors, this is her third 2nd place in the last four shows hopefully we can pull of the win soon!! she has now won over £700, clever pony!
Lucy went to her second event at the Cottesmore Pony Club held at Flitterus Park, she was a horror!!! She warmed up well for dressage but got distracted in the arena and when told she had to concentrate she threw all her toys out of the pram, see photos below! pretty sure that movement is not required in any test. She was a bit shell shocked in the show jumping as not really seen marquees before and wasn't sure that they were safe to go near, so we had a very interesting line to fence one which we had down, jumped fence two well then a hung to fence three to avoid having to go back up arena towards the killer tents, she wasn't sure about going but I persuaded her otherwise and she was a good girl and went but had the back rail down, after that she got better and better and finished really well. I decided not to go cross country as the course was big and bold and I thought that with her not being in the most cooperativie mood that if she went a bit green it could worry her and she has lots time in the future and at least she doesn't know she didn't go cross country so she went home happy but hopefully thinking that she has to do as she is told!
Yesterday we went to Frickley Horse Trials near Doncaster, it was our first time here and we will definitely be going again, the team running it were really friendly and did a great job. Flo did what I felt was her best test to date and was really pleased to get the mark I felt she deserved of a competitive 32.3 what was nice there was still a couple of things I felt could of been better, maybe one day we can break 30! The show jumping was in a testing arena as was on a bit of a slope with a lip in the middle of the arena, having said that it was a very fair course and rode well, I did hear people complaining but in my opinion we are eventing and is our job to balance and ride the course accordingly, we go to competitions to test ourselves and if the arenas are on grass it is not always possible to have perfectly flat arenas and it is the same for everyone. Flo jumped a super clear round making it feel effortless so we went on the cross country in a competitive position, having not quite back to her old self at Catton I was hoping the cross country schooling a Cherise flying over some hedges on a hunt fun ride had got her confidence back, she came out of the start box like a bullet and I thought oh yes she's back! she jumped an awesome clear round a lovely big bold course which made me remember why I love eventing, we picked up 9.2 time faults but nobody got inside the time and I did probably lose a bit of time being extra sure my lines were all perfect and it was good enough for 4th place. Photo coming soon.
