With seven horses in full work we have all been keeping busy! Barney has settled well and has been ridden the last few days and has been being a good boy, he will now do a couple of weeks basic fittening work before going off to his trainer. Ringo has been going well, I had a really good lesson on him with Kim Sleath today working on more connection, I really enjoyed it and felt we have gelled well over the last couple weeks and now got lots of homework before next lesson. Rogey is going really well, she is such a lovely horse. We have taken her for a practice show jumping, she hasn't been in the ring for about a year but she just took it all in her stride and jumped two super rounds. We are taking her and Lucy to hire an arena tomorrow with lots of Xc fences.
Cherise and I have a really good couple of days out hunting with the Quorn Hunt with Darcy & Flo both horses have gone brilliantly flying everything that we have asked them to do. Below is a photo of Cherise and Darcy flying a hedge, photo by kind permission of Penny Fillingham Photography.
I went show jumping on Saturday to Vale View to do the Scope Qualifiers, unfortunately we had a bad case of four faultitis. Lulu jumped two really good rounds but had annoying fence down in both rounds. Lucy was a rather excited to be out after her break, below is the video of her 1.05m round.
16.2hh 8yr Irish Grey mate by Womanizer.
We bought Rogey from Goresbridge in September 2014, I owned her for 8 months and show jumped her successfully upto 1.05m. I sold her in July 2015. She continued doing some show jump shows but unfortunately her owner feels she can not do her justice and has taken the tough decision to give up horses.
She is lovely stamp of horse, works well on the flat with good paces. Very scope and careful, Rogey is very easy to ride to a fence and is honest and happy to help you out. Good enough for pure show jumping or brace enough to event.
Lovely to have around the yard, good to hack alone and in company. Good show, catch, clip etc. For more information please give me a ring on 07810696959.
We have been busy at LG since the start of the year, we now have seven horses in so we are busy, busy, busy! Rogey has settled straight back in, she has been all clipped out and is looking very smart, she is going really well and will hopefully go out jumping on Tuesday and will then be advertised. I had a dressage lesson with Kim Sleath on Ringo when he arrived, which was really helpful to make sure we are all working along the same lines and where they are up to, I am very lucky that Clare has said I can continue with the lessons whilst she is away so we are booked in again soon, I have booked Lulu in for a lesson at the same time. I managed to fit a show jump lesson last week on a Lucy with Holly Smith, Lucy was a good girl, her jump is improving all the time, she still has her moments when if she doesn't think something is a good idea she will add some of her own moves!!
Lulu anf Flo have been out show jumping a couple of times,
A very happy new year to everyone from LG.
We we have had a lovely Christmas and are now ready for 2017!
Lucy has just had a three week break, she is back hacking now. All being well we will aim to start eventing mid March we will start at BE100 and hopefully step up to Novice mid season. Hopefully I will fit a show jump lesson in with her and Lulu with Holly Smith before she goes off to Spain jumping, I really enjoy training with Holly as she is straight to the point and puts things in simple terms, the same can be said of Charlie Hinton who I have dressage lesson with two weeks today, hopefully Lucy will be feeling amenable! I would like to qualify, Lucy, Lulu & Flo for the Scope Show jumping festival, and Lucy & Lulu for the Discovery second rounds and Lulu the British Novice second rounds. I have decided not to event Flo this year as I feel it has become to expensive to do just for fun and Flo has nothing left to prove although I do feel sad that we have been priced out like so many others. She is thoroughly enjoying her hunting and I will team chase and show jump her, I would love her to be the first horse I win over a thousand pounds on! Lulu is going really well, after having a pole in her first BS show she has jumped clear every time out since gaining 3 of her 4 double clears at British Novice and her first Discovery double clear. She may do a few events, although I feel show jumping is where she excels. Darcy is on good form and is enjoying her hunting with Mum & Cherise, and cherish will do some unaffiliated show jumping and arena eventing with her.
Bailey who we had in before Christmas has gone off to his new home and we wish Charlotte the best of luck with him. Rogey who we bought at the same time as Lucy has arrived back at LG after her owner has taken the hard decision to give up horses, so we will do a bit with her and then she will be looking for a new home. Ringo is coming for a long stay whilst his owners go travelling for three months, he is a lovely quality horse and I am looking forward to working with him and finally Barney who we broke in two years ago before going off to be a winning racehorse is coming back to be restarted after his holidays before heading back to his trainers in Newmarket to hopefully carry on his good form.
I promise to to keep you all updated with all we get up to!!
